Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in strength within the city.
Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of heroes who will split off from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.
This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who prefer a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might appear out of place, but the developments of the third episode show why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the group knows exactly where to head next after a intense first encounter with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose death initiated the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his own means, invading the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the companion and best friend, seeks vengeance.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could assist the team access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and Wicander defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the family.
This means them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in search of the traitor.
Future Episodes
Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Questers and Strategists tables.
Fans can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
